On July 16th, the Royal York Hotel in downtown Toronto was abuzz with activity as job seekers and employers gathered for AOLCC Toronto’s Summer Career Fair. The event connected graduates and those looking to change careers with top employers, proving to be a resounding success.
Employers from different industries set up booths, offering opportunities that ranged from summer internships to full-time positions. Attendees had the chance to connect with companies from industries such as technology, finance, healthcare, and retail.
We were pleased to welcome Michael Sangster from the National Association of Career Colleges to the event. His attendance highlighted the importance of connecting education with employment opportunities and the value of career-focused education and events like this Toronto’s career fair in assisting students’ smooth transition from the campus to the workplace. Sangster shared his thoughts on the event:
“It’s great to see AOLCC putting so much effort into helping their graduates find work. Career colleges are excellent at training people quickly and getting them into the workforce. It’s exciting to see so many employers here and to know that many students will start work soon after graduation. These institutions are bridging the gap between training and employment, helping students fulfill their career goals.”
Sangster’s comments spoke to the value of career-focused education and events like this career fair in helping students transition smoothly from the campus to the workplace. His participation added weight to the proceedings, emphasizing the role of career colleges in preparing students for today’s job market.
The real showstopper of the day was the inspiring speech delivered by AOLCC Toronto Bay & Queen Campus, Chief Operating Officer, Chamara Perera. His words resonated with attendees, emphasizing the importance of seizing opportunities and striving for excellence. “In today’s rapidly changing job market, adaptability and continuous learning are key,” Perera noted. “Each of you has the potential to make a significant impact in your chosen field.”
Sarah Thompson, a recent AOLCC graduate, shared her experience: “I came here feeling uncertain about my prospects, but after talking to several employers, I’m leaving with two interviews lined up. It’s been incredibly motivating.”
The event offered more than job opportunities. AOLCC’s career services team provided advice on resume writing, interview techniques, and career planning.
John Davies, a recruiter from a local tech firm, noted, “The caliber of candidates we’ve met today is impressive. It’s clear that AOLCC is preparing its students well for the job market.”
